Caramel Popcorn Balls Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 tb Lt. corn syrup
  • 1/4 ts Baking soda
  • 1/4 ts Vinilla
  • 1/3 c Margarine or butter
  • 8 c Popped popcorn (about 1/3 to
  • 3/4 c Packed brown sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 Pre heat oven 300F Remove all unpopped kernals from popped corn.
  • Step #2 Place popcorn in greased 17x12x2-inch baking pan.
  • Step #3 Keep popcorn warm in a 300F oven while making carmel mixture.
  • Step #4 Butter the sides of a heavy 1 1/2 quart saucepan.
  • Step #5 in Saucepan mix brown sugar,margarine or butter,and corn syrup.
  • Step #6 Cook & stir over med-heat/flame to bioling.
  • Step #7 Clip candy thermometer to side of pan.
  • Step #8 Cook & stir medium heat to 255 hard-ball stage(about 4 min.
  • Step #9 ) Remove saucepan from heat.
  • Step #10 stir in the baking soda & vanilla; pour over popcorn.
  • Step #11 Stir carefully to coat.
  • Step #12 Bake in a 300F oven for 15 mins; stir.
  • Step #13 Bake 5 mins more.
  • Step #14 Transfer popcorn mixture to large pieces of foil; cool completly.
  • Step #15 Break into clusters.
  • Step #16 Store tightly covered.
  • Step #17 Makes about 9 c.
