Caramelized Onions In Flaky Pastry Recipe

Ingredients
  • Onion topping
  • 3/4 c Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tb Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Yeast
  • 2 c Gold Medal Better f Batter Flour
  • 1 1/2 ts Fleischmann's Bread Machine
  • 2 tb Olive or vegetable oil
  • 3/4 c Water
  • 1 tb Sugar
  • 1 ts Salt

Directions
  • Step #1 1.
  • Step #2 Measure carefully, placing all ingredients except Onion Topping and cheeses in bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Step #3 2.
  • Step #4 Select: Dough/Manual cycle.
  • Step #5 3.
  • Step #6 Grease cookie sheet.
  • Step #7 Pat dough into 12-inch circle on cookie sheet.
  • Step #8 Cover & let rise in warm place about 30 mins or until almost double.
  • Step #9 Prepare Onion Topping.
  • Step #10 4.
  • Step #11 Heat oven to 400F.
  • Step #12 Make deep depressions in dough at 1-inch intervals with finger or handle of wooden spoon.
  • Step #13 Spread topping over dough.
  • Step #14 Sprinkle top with cheeses.
  • Step #15 Bake 15 to 18 mins or until edge is golden brown.
  • Step #16 remove this from cookie sheet to wire rack.
  • Step #17 Serve warm.
  • Step #18 ONION TOPPING: 3 tb margarine or butter 2 md onions, sliced 2 cloves garlic, finely sliced Melt margarine in 10-inch skillet ovr medium-low heat.
  • Step #19 Cook onions & garlic in margarine 15 to 20 mins, stirring every once in awhile, until onions are brown and caramelized; remove this from heat.
  • Step #20 Per Serving: Calories 240; Protein 7g; Carbohydrate 31g; Fat 10g; Cholesterol 5mg; Sodium 400mg.
