Step #1 Line a 4-by-8-inch loaf pan with plastic wrap.
Step #2 Make a layer of ladyfingers with the flat side up in the bottom of the pan, covering the entire bottom evenly.
Step #3 Whip the egg whites with a dash of salt, until stiff.
Step #4 Set aside.
Step #5 mix the chocolate, sugar, & water in the top of a double boiler.
Step #6 When the chocolate is melted, beating at high speed, add the egg yolks & beat with an electric mixer (no need to wash beaters after whipping the whites), until mixture is light & fluffy.
Step #7 Fold the egg whites into the chocolate mixture.
Step #8 Turn half the mixture into the pan lines with ladyfingers.
Step #9 top this with another layer of ladyfingers.
Step #10 Cover with remaining chocolate mixture and still another layer of ladyfingers.
