Old-time Potato Sourdough Starter Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 ts Vinegar
  • 2 c Sugar
  • 1/2 ts Salt
  • 1/2 c Light corn syrup
  • 20 c Popcorn
  • 1 ts Vanilla
  • 1 c Water

Directions
  • Step #1 preheat your trusty oven to 300.
  • Step #2 Remove all unpopped kernels from popped corn.
  • Step #3 Put popcorn in a large roasting pan; keep warm in oven.
  • Step #4 Butter the sides of a 2-quart saucepan.
  • Step #5 In it mix sugar, corn syrup, vinegar, water, & salt.
  • Step #6 Cook to 270 deg (soft-crack stage), stirring frequently (mixture should boil carefully over entire surface).
  • Step #7 Remove from heat; stir in the vanilla.
  • Step #8 Slowly pour mixture over hot popcorn.
  • Step #9 Stir just until mixed.
  • Step #10 Butter hands; using a buttered c, sccop up popcorn mixture.
  • Step #11 Shape with buttered hands into 2-1/2 to 3-inch balls.
