Cherry Snowballs Recipe

Ingredients
  • COATING:
  • 2 c flaked coconut, finely sliced
  • 1 c quick-cooking oats
  • 1 c butter (no substitutes), softened
  • 1/4 c milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 c confectioners' sugar
  • 36 maraschino cherries, well drained
  • 1/2 c confectioners' sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 In a mixing bowl, sugar, cream butter, water & vanilla.
  • Step #2 Combine flour, oats & salt; slowly add to the creamed mixture.
  • Step #3 Shape a tbspful of dough around each cherry, forming a ball.
  • Step #4 Place 2 in.
  • Step #5 apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Step #6 Bake at 350 degrees F for 18-20 mins or until bottoms are browned.
  • Step #7 Remove to wire racks to cool.
  • Step #8 Combine sugar & enough milk to achieve smooth dipping consistency.
  • Step #9 Dip cookies, then roll in coconut.
