Orange Rosemary Syrup Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c Sugar
  • Filling:
  • 1 1/3 c Warm water
  • 3 1/4 c All-purpose flour
  • 1 tb Grated orange peel
  • 1/4 c Sugar
  • 1 Egg, room temperatue
  • 1/4 c Melted solid vegetable shortening
  • 1 c margarine, room temperature
  • 1 oz Yeast cakes
  • 1 ts Salt

Directions
  • Step #1 Makes 4 dozen Dough: For dough: Crumble yeast into large bowl.
  • Step #2 stir in the water an dsugar.
  • Step #3 let this stand until foamy, about 10 mins.
  • Step #4 Stir shortening, egg & salt into yeast mixture.
  • Step #5 Add flour 1/4 c at a time, stirring until mixture is smooth.
  • Step #6 Grease bowl.
  • Step #7 Add dough, turning to coat entire surgace.
  • Step #8 Cover & let rise in warm draft-free area until doubled in volume, about 1 1/2 hrs.
  • Step #9 For filling: Beat margarine & sugar to mix well.
  • Step #10 stir in the orange peel.
  • Step #11 To assemble: Roll dough out on generously floured surface to thickness of 3/16 inch.
  • Step #12 Spread filling evenly over dough.
  • Step #13 Roll dough up into cylinder, as for jelly roll.
  • Step #14 Cut into 1 1/2 inch-thick slices.
  • Step #15 Set each slice in paper muffin liner.
  • Step #16 Arrange on baking sheet.
  • Step #17 Cover with towel & let rise in warm draft-free area 30 mins.
  • Step #18 preheat your trusty oven to 400F F.
  • Step #19 Bake rolls until lightly browned on top, about 12 mins.
