Oregon Hazelnut Sate Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 ts Salt
  • 1 Egg yolk; mixed with...
  • 1/4 c Light cream
  • 4 c All-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c Finely sliced hazelnuts
  • 1/4 ts Saffron threads
  • 4 Eggs
  • 2 tb Granulated sugar
  • 1 c Melted butter
  • 1 1/2 tb Dry yeast
  • 1/2 c Water

Directions
  • Step #1 Bring water to a boil & pour over saffron threads.
  • Step #2 allow this to cool to 105; mix with yeast & sugar.
  • Step #3 Let set 15 mins.
  • Step #4 Mix melted butter, hazelnuts, salt, flour, eggs & yeast mixture.
  • Step #5 Beat by hand until smooth.
  • Step #6 place this in buttered bowl, cover & set in draft-free place to rise until doubled, turn, about 1 to 1-1/2 hrs.
  • Step #7 Punch down & shape into 2 loaves.
  • Step #8 This can be braided as well.
  • Step #9 Brush each loaf with the egg yolk wash, let rise until doubled, about 1 hr.
  • Step #10 bake this at 400F for 30 mins, until deep golden brown.
