Carob Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/3 c Honey
  • 1 ts Vanilla; 1/2 tsp if Watkins
  • 1/3 c Carob powder
  • 2 c Whole-wheat pastry flour
  • 1/4 c sliced nuts
  • 2 ts Baking powder
  • 1 c Water
  • 1/2 c Unsweetened applesauce

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large mixing bowl, mix flour, carob powder & baking powder.
  • Step #2 In a separate bowl, thoroughly mix remaining ingredients, except nuts.
  • Step #3 Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients & mix well.
  • Step #4 stir in the nuts if desired.
  • Step #5 Pour batter into a nonstick or lightly oiled 8-inch square baking dish.
  • Step #6 bake this at 350 for 35 mins.
  • Step #7 Makes 16 brownies.
  • Step #8 Per brownie: 84 cal; 2g prot; 0.
  • Step #9 3g fat; 21g carb; 0 chol; 41mg sod.
