Step #1 Recipe by: The Bean Cookbook, by Judith Choate Soak, rinse, & cook chick peas.
Step #2 Do not allow beans to get too soft.
Step #3 When tender but still firm, remove this from heat & drain well.
Step #4 Pat dry.
Step #5 preheat your trusty oven to 375F.
Step #6 Melt butter in medium-sized saucepan over low heat.
Step #7 Add vegetable oil & garlic & allow to sit for 5 mins, keeping warm.
Step #8 Pour butter into large baking tray with sides.
Step #9 Spread dried chick peas on tray.
Step #10 Bake 15 mins, turning frequently, or until chick peas are golden.
Step #11 While chick peas are baking, mix spices & herbs.
Step #12 When chick peas are done, remove this from oven & Sprinkle top with herbs & spices & toss to coat.
Step #13 Serve warm.
Step #14 ~- The cookbook also suggests that other combinations of herbs & spices would work, cumin, a combination of chili powder, for example, and cayenne.
