Cheddar Apple Cobbler Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c Molasses
  • 3/4 ts Salt
  • 1/2 c Boiling water
  • 2 tb Butter or margarine
  • 1 c Coarsely sliced Cheddar cheese
  • Butter or margarine
  • 2 1/2 To 3 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 pk Active dry yeast
  • 1/2 c Cold water
  • 1/4 c Cornmeal

Directions
  • Step #1 Makes 1 loaf Stir cornmeal into boiling water.
  • Step #2 Add cold water, molasses & 2 tbsps of the butter.
  • Step #3 Cool until lukewarm.
  • Step #4 Reserve.
  • Step #5 Fit processor with steel blade.
  • Step #6 Measure 1 1/2 c of the flour, yeast & salt into work bowl.
  • Step #7 Process on/off to mix.
  • Step #8 Add cooled cornmeal mixture to flour mixture.
  • Step #9 Process until smooth, about 20 seconds.
  • Step #10 Turn on processor & add enough of the remaining flour through feed tube so dough forms a ball that cleans the sides of the bowl.
  • Step #11 Process until ball turns around bowl about 25 times.
  • Step #12 Turn dough onto lightly floured surface.
  • Step #13 Knead cheese into dough (cheese should be evenly dispersed throughout dough, not lumped together).
  • Step #14 Shape into ball & place this in well greased 8- or 9 inch pie pan.
  • Step #15 Flatten dough to fill pan.
  • Step #16 cover loosely with plastic wrap and let this stand in warm place until doubled, about 1 hr.
  • Step #17 Heat oven to 375 F.
  • Step #18 bake this until golden & loaf sounds hollow when tapped, 30 - 35 mins.
  • Step #19 Remove as soon as possible from pan.
  • Step #20 Brush butter over crust.
  • Step #21 Cool on wire rack.
