Ingredients
  • 4 Eggs, seperated
  • 1 c Butter or margarine
  • 2 c Sugar
  • 2 c Flour, all-purpose
  • 1 ts Baking soda
  • 1 pk Baker's german's sweet choco ate
  • 1 ts Vanilla
  • 1/2 c Water, boiling
  • 1 c Buttermilk
  • 1/2 ts Salt
  • Coconut-pecan frosting

Directions
  • Step #1 Fat grams per serving: Approx.
  • Step #2 Cook Time: 30min Melt chocolate in water; cool.
  • Step #3 Cream butter & sugar.
  • Step #4 Beat in egg yolks.
  • Step #5 stir in the vanilla & chocolate.
  • Step #6 Mix flour, soda & salt.
  • Step #7 beat in flour mixture, alternately with buttermilk.
  • Step #8 Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form; fold into batter.
  • Step #9 Pour batter into three 9-inch layer pans, lined on bottoms with waxed paper.
  • Step #10 bake this at 350 degrees for 30 mins or until cake springs back when lightly pressed in center.
  • Step #11 Cool 15 mins; remove & cool on rack.
  • Step #12 Frost cake.
