Paper Wrapped Chicken (gee-bow Gai) Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c Flour
  • 1 Unbaked pie shell
  • 2 tb Flour
  • 8 Cooking apples
  • 1/2 c Sugar
  • 2 tb Lemon juice
  • 1/2 c Sugar
  • Topping:
  • 1/2 ts Cinnamon or nutmeg
  • 1/2 c Butter or margarine

Directions
  • Step #1 Prepare pastry shell.
  • Step #2 put aside.
  • Step #3 Pare & core about 8 cooking apples.
  • Step #4 Cut into quarters then cut these in half.
  • Step #5 place this in large bowl & set aside.
  • Step #6 mix & mix well the 1/2 c sugar, 2 T flour.
  • Step #7 1/2 ts.
  • Step #8 cinnamon or nutmeg( the recipe calls for nutmeg but person giving this recipe likes cinnamon better) Sprinkle top it over apple chunks and toss lightly.
  • Step #9 Spoon into prepared shell.
  • Step #10 Sprinkle top the 2 T lemon juice over top.
  • Step #11 TOPPING: mix in bowl 1/2 c sugar, 1/2 c flour, mix well & add 1/2 c butter or margarine & cut in with pastry mixer or two knives until like course cornmeal.
  • Step #12 Sprinkle top this mixture over top of pie.
  • Step #13 Slide pie into a large supermarket paper bag.
  • Step #14 Fold open end twice and fasten with paper clips or staple.
  • Step #15 Place on a baking sheet & bake at 425F F for 1 hr.
  • Step #16 remove this from oven, split bag open & cool pie on wire rack.
  • Step #17 DO NOT open bag while baking.
  • Step #18 This is a great pie.
