Chestnut Stuffing For Poultry Recipe

Ingredients
  • 6 c Bread cubes , dry
  • 1 lb Chestnuts, roasted, peeled & sliced
  • 1/8 ts Nutmeg
  • 1/4 c Parsley, sliced
  • 1/4 c White wine
  • 4 c Celery , sliced coarsely
  • 1 c Onion, sliced
  • 1/4 c Cream, light
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1/2 lb Butter

Directions
  • Step #1 In hot butter in a large skillet, saute onion, stirring, celery & parsley, for about 5 mins.
  • Step #2 In a large kettle, salt, mix bread cubes, chestnuts, pepper and nutmeg.
  • Step #3 Toss to mix well.
  • Step #4 mix cream & wine; mix well.
  • Step #5 Add to bread mixture, along with the vegetables & drippings in skillet.
  • Step #6 Toss lightly, using 2 forks.
  • Step #7 NOTES: Poultry stuffing with chestnuts, bread & wine -- This recipe has long been part of my Thanksgiving Day tradition.
