Chestnut Stuffing With Pork Sausage Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 Egg, well beaten
  • 1/4 c Celery, sliced
  • 1 pt Bread crumbs
  • 1 qt Chestnuts
  • 1 ts Salt
  • 2 ts Poultry Spice uping
  • 1/4 c Shortening

Directions
  • Step #1 butter, chicken fat, or lard.
  • Step #2 Make a gash in each chestnut, place in an iron skillet with 1 Tbsp of butter & shake over hot flame for a few mins.
  • Step #3 place this in the oven for 10 mins.
  • Step #4 Then remove the shell & skins.
  • Step #5 Cover the blanched chestnuts with boiling salt water & cook this until tender.
  • Step #6 Strain & put through a ricer.
  • Step #7 Add the rest of the ingredients & mix well.
