Ingredients
  • 3/4 ts Baking powder
  • 1 1/2 c Quick-cooking oats
  • Chocolate
  • 1 c Dark-brown sugar, packed
  • 2 Egg whites
  • Raisin Puree
  • 1 tb Grated orange zest
  • 1/2 ts Salt
  • 3/4 c sliced bitttersweet
  • 2 c Cake flour
  • 1/3 c Toasted walnuts, optional

Directions
  • Step #1 Raisin Puree is the basis for the dough of this rich-tasting, chewy bar.
  • Step #2 The combination of orange & chocolate is a classic favorite.
  • Step #3 We considered cutting the amount of chocolate in the recipe, thereby cut- ting the fat, but in the end we agreed that the extra richness is worth the extra grams of fat.
  • Step #4 (By Times Food Stylists) Sift together flour, baking powder & salt into large bowl.
  • Step #5 stir in the oats & brown sugar.
  • Step #6 Beat egg whites lightly in another bowl.
  • Step #7 stir in the Raisin Puree.
  • Step #8 stir in theto flour mixture along with chocolate, walnuts, & orange zest just until mixed.
  • Step #9 Spoon in 9-inch-square baking pan sprayed with non-stick vegetable spray.
  • Step #10 bake this at 350 degrees F.
  • Step #11 25 to 30 mins.
  • Step #12 Cool.
  • Step #13 Cut into 24 bars.
