Chocolate Bavarian Torte Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/3 c packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 c whipping cream, whipped
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (18.25 oz) package plain devil's food cake mix (without pudding in the mix)
  • 2 tbsps grated semisweet chocolate

Directions
  • Step #1 Mix & bake cake according to package directions, using two 9-in.
  • Step #2 cake pans.
  • Step #3 Cool in pans for 15 mins; remove this from pans & cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Step #4 In a mixing bowl, sugar, beat cream cheese, vanilla & salt until fluffy.
  • Step #5 Fold in cream.
  • Step #6 Split each cake into two horizontal layers; place one on a serving plate.
  • Step #7 Spread with a fourth of the cream mixture.
  • Step #8 Sprinkle top with a fourth of the cream mixture.
  • Step #9 Sprinkle top with a fourth of the chocolate.
  • Step #10 repeat layers.
  • Step #11 Cover & put in the fridge 8 hrs or overnight.
