Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c white sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 (.25 oz) package active dry yeast
  • 1 egg, room temperature
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 c bread flour
  • 3/4 c warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 1/4 c butter, softened
  •  

Directions
  • Step #1 In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • Step #2 Let stand until creamy, about 10 mins.
  • Step #3 In a large bowl, mix the yeast mixture with the sugar, salt, egg & 1 c flour; stir well to mix.
  • Step #4 Stir in the remaining flour, 1/2 c at a time, beating well with each addition.
  • Step #5 When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface & knead until smooth & elastic, about 8 mins.
  • Step #6 Cover with a damp cloth & let rest for 10 mins.
  • Step #7 Lightly grease an 8x8 inch square baking pan.
  • Step #8 Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thick rectangle.
  • Step #9 Smear the dough with butter & sprinkle with cinnamon & brown sugar.
  • Step #10 Roll up the dough along the long edge until it forms a roll.
  • Step #11 Slice the roll this into 16 equal size pieces & place them in the pan with the cut side up.
  • Step #12 Cover pan with plastic wrap & put in the fridge overnight or cover & let rise at about room temp until doubled in volume, about 45 mins.
  • Step #13 Preheat oven to 400F degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Step #14 Bake rolls until golden brown, about 20 mins.
