Chicken Noodle Casserole Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/8 tsp white pepper
  • 3 tbsps all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 c sliced onion
  • 3 celery ribs, sliced
  • 1 1/2 c sliced carrots
  • 1 1/4 c shredded reduced-fat Cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can chicken broth
  • 3 tbsps butter or stick margarine
  • 1 1/2 c 2% milk
  • 8 oz wide egg noodles, cooked & drained
  • 1 tbsp olive or canola oil
  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 tsp dried savory

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large nonstick skillet, saute onion & garlic in oil until tender.
  • Step #2 Add chicken; cook & stir until no longer pink.
  • Step #3 Add the broth, carrots, celery & savory.
  • Step #4 Bring to a boil.
  • Step #5 Reduce heat; cover & let simmer for 10-15 mins or until vegetables are tender.
  • Step #6 Meanwhile, in a saucepan, melt butter.
  • Step #7 Stir in the flour, salt & pepper until smooth.
  • Step #8 Gradually add milk.
  • Step #9 Bring to a boil; cook & stir for 2 mins or until thickened.
  • Step #10 Remove from the heat; stir in the cheese until melted.
  • Step #11 Pour over chicken mixture.
  • Step #12 Add noodles; mix well.
  • Step #13 Transfer to a 3-qt.
  • Step #14 baking dish coated with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Step #15 Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees F for 15-20 mins or until bubbly.
