Chocolate Pound Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c butter, softened
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsps vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 1/2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/8 c milk
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 3 c white sugar
  • 1/2 c shortening
  • 5 eggs

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 300F degrees F (150 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Cream together butter or margarine, shortening, & sugar.
  • Step #3 Add the eggs, vanilla, & salt mixing batter until light & creamy.
  • Step #4 Add 1c flour & the baking powder to egg butter mixture.
  • Step #5 Stir until just mixd.
  • Step #6 Then add 1/2 c milk stirring until mixd.
  • Step #7 Continue alternating flour & milk, ending with flour.
  • Step #8 Stir in cocoa & mix well.
  • Step #9 Place batter in a greased & floured tube pan that has been lined with greased & floured baking parchment paper.
  • Step #10 Bake in a preheated 300F degrees F (150 degrees C) oven for 1 hr 30 mins.
  • Step #11 Cool cake in pan for 10 mins.
  • Step #12 Then remove cake from its pan & let cool on a wire rack.
