Dried Fruit And Sausage Dressing Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3/4 c dried cranberries
  • 2 tbsps butter
  • 1 c sliced onion
  • 2 tbsps minced fresh parsley
  • 1/2 c sliced celery
  • 3/4 c chicken broth
  • 1/4 c port wine
  • 2 tbsps sliced dried apricots
  • 1/2 lb bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 medium tart apple, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 3 tsps minced fresh rosemary
  • 8 oz coarse-textured white bread
  • 3/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 tbsps golden raisins
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 egg, beaten

Directions
  • Step #1 Crumble sausage into a small skillet; cook over med-heat/flame until no longer pink.
  • Step #2 Drain & set aside.
  • Step #3 In the same skillet, saute onion & celery in butter until tender.
  • Step #4 Add wine; simmer for 2 mins.
  • Step #5 Cut crusts from the bread if desired; tear bread into small pieces.
  • Step #6 Place in a bowl; add the sausage, onion mixture & remaining ingredients.
  • Step #7 Mix lightly.
  • Step #8 Transfer to a greased shallow 1-1/2-qt.
  • Step #9 baking dish.
  • Step #10 Cover & bake this at 325F degrees F for 40 mins.
  • Step #11 Uncover; bake 10 mins longer or until lightly browned.
