Cherry Streusel Bars Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsps sugar
  • 4 c all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 c butter flavored shortening
  • 1 c cold butter or margarine
  • 1 tbsp grated orange peel
  • 1/4 c water
  • 1 1/4 c packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsps cider vinegar
  • 2 (21 oz) cans cherry pie filling

Directions
  • Step #1 In a bowl, mix 2 c flour, sugar & salt; cut in shortening until crumbly.
  • Step #2 In another bowl, whisk the egg, water & vinegar.
  • Step #3 stir in theto flour mixture with a fork.
  • Step #4 On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough into a 15-in.
  • Step #5 x 10-in.
  • Step #6 rectangle.
  • Step #7 Transfer to a greased 15-in.
  • Step #8 x 10-in.
  • Step #9 x 1-in.
  • Step #10 baking pan.
  • Step #11 Bake at 400F degrees F for 6-8 mins or until firm & dry to the touch.
  • Step #12 Meanwhile, mix pie filling & orange peel; set aside.
  • Step #13 In a large bowl, mix the brown sugar, cinnamon & remaining flour; cut in butter until crumbly.
  • Step #14 Spread cherry mixture over crust.
  • Step #15 Sprinkle top with crumb mixture.
  • Step #16 Bake at 400F degrees F for 20-25 mins or until golden brown.
  • Step #17 Cool on a wire rack for 20 mins before cutting.
