Cindi's Egg Rolls Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 tbsps molasses
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 2 tbsps soy sauce
  • 1 large carrot, shredded
  • 1 quart oil for frying
  • 3 tsps fresh ginger root, grated
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, cut into thin strips
  • 4 c shredded cabbage
  • 1 1/2 (14 oz) packages egg roll wrappers
  • 2 tbsps vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 c sweet & sour sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

Directions
  • Step #1 Cook pork in a large wok over medium-high heat.
  • Step #2 Drain & set aside.
  • Step #3 In a large bowl, green bell pepper, onion, carrot, mix the cabbage, garlic & ginger.
  • Step #4 In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch, soy sauce, & molasses until smooth.
  • Step #5 Heat 2 tbsps oil in wok.
  • Step #6 Stir in cabbage mixture in batches, cooking each batch 3 to 4 mins, just until tender.
  • Step #7 Return vegetables to bowl, & mix in pork.
  • Step #8 Stir in the cornstarch mixture.
  • Step #9 Heat 1 quart oil in a deep fryer to 365 degrees F (185 degrees C).
  • Step #10 Place about 1 tbsp filling on each egg roll wrapper.
  • Step #11 Fold one corner of wrapper over filling.
  • Step #12 Fold wrapper sides over filling.
  • Step #13 Roll wrappers to form egg rolls.
  • Step #14 Fry egg rolls in batches in the hot oil until golden brown.
  • Step #15 Drain on paper towels & serve this with sweet & sour sauce.
