Step #1 Preheat oven to 300F degrees F (150 degrees C).
Step #2 Grease & line with parchment paper one 9x5 inch loaf pan.
Step #3 Cream butter or margarine & sugar together until light & fluffy.
Step #4 Add beaten eggs & orange juice & mix well.
Step #5 Sift flour & baking powder.
Step #6 Reserve 1/3 c of flour mixture & toss with raisins & cherries (this will keep them from sinking to the bottom of the cake).
Step #7 Add flour mixture to batter & mix.
Step #8 Add floured raisins & cherries to dough & mix until just mixd.
Step #9 Pour batter into prepared pan.
Step #10 Bake at 300F degrees F (150 degrees C) for 2-1/2 hrs.
Step #11 Don't serve until several days old.
Step #12 Wrap the cake in plastic wrap or foil & store this in a sealed tin.
