Cocktail Birthday Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 lb cooked ham, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 tsps curry powder
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 c butter, softened
  • 1/2 lb salami, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 lb boiled ham, thinly sliced
  • 16 slices rye bread
  • 16 slices white bread
  • 4 1/2 oz toasted almonds
  • 1 1/2 tbsps prepared mustard

Directions
  • Step #1 In a small bowl, mix the butter & mustard.
  • Step #2 Remove crusts from the bread slices.
  • Step #3 On a small cookie sheet, arrange 4 rye slices to form a square.
  • Step #4 Spread slices with a layer of mustard butter.
  • Step #5 Top with 4 slices of boiled ham.
  • Step #6 Top the boiled ham with four slices of white bread arranged in a square.
  • Step #7 Spread with mustard butter.
  • Step #8 Top with 4 slices of cooked ham.
  • Step #9 Top the cooked ham with four slices of rye bread arranged in a square.
  • Step #10 Spread with mustard butter.
  • Step #11 Top with 4 slices of salami.
  • Step #12 Repeat until 8 alternating layers have been created.
  • Step #13 Trim overhanging meat.
  • Step #14 Place a small cookie sheet on top of the layers.
  • Step #15 Weigh down the cookie sheet with a bowl so as to lightly flatten the layers into a thinner, square cake.
  • Step #16 Continue flattening & put in the fridge a minimum of 5 hrs.
  • Step #17 Frost the chilled cake on all sides with cream cheese & curry powder.
  • Step #18 Decorate with almonds.
  • Step #19 Refrigerate until serving.
  • Step #20 To serve, cut into quarters, then six cubes per quarter resulting in 24 pieces.
