Mexican Platter Burger

- 1 round loaf (1 1/2 lbs) French bread shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter, softened shopping list
- 1 tbsp chili powder shopping list
- 1/4 cup prepared taco sauce shopping list
- 3 tbsp instant minced onion shopping list
- 2 cloves, garlic, minced or pressed shopping list
- 2 tsp chili powder shopping list
- 2 tsp oregano leaves shopping list
- 1 tsp cumin shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 2 1/2 lbs lean ground beef shopping list
- 8 ounces sliced cheddar cheese shopping list
How to make it
- Using a long serrated knife, cut breat in half horixontally.
- In a small bowl, beat butter and 1 tablespoon chili powder until blended; spread evenly over cut sides of bread. Set bread aside, Also prepare toppings and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine taco sauce, onion garlic, the 2 teaspoons chili powder, oregano, cumin, salt, and beef; mix well. Turn meat mixture onto a large baking sheet lined with wax paper; pat into a round patty 1 inch wider than bread, (meat patty will be approximately 12 inches in diameter).
- Cook you patties are done.
- Slide cooked burger back onto baking sheet; keep warm. Place bread halves on grill, cut side down, and heat until lightly toasted. Cut top half of bread into wedges; keep warm. Slide burger onto bottom of bread. Arrange toppings over burger. Cut into serving-size wedges; accompany with bread wedges. Makes 8 - 10 servings.
- Toppings~Halve and pit 2 medium-size ripe avocados; scoop flesh into a bowl and mash with a fork. Stir in 3 tablespoons lemon juice and season to taste with garlic salt and liquid hot pepper seasoning. Also have ready 2 cans (4 oz each) whole green chiles, drained, split, seeded and flattened; 2 medium-size tomatoes, sliced, and 3 large pitted ripe olives, sliced.
