My mother-in-law gave me this recipe over 20 years ago and it's quick and easy to make though you will need a steam pudding basin as shown in the photo behind the bowl.

Ingredients
  • 5 rounded tablespoons self-raisng flour
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons suet mix
  • 1 egg
  • milk
  • golden syrup

Directions
  1. Mix together the flour, sugar, suet mix, egg and enough milk to make a thick batter consistency.
  2. Grease a steam pudding basin and place a couple of tablespoons of goldensyrup in the bottom.
  3. Place batter mixture on top.
  4. Place lid on basin, then put the basin in a large saucepan of water and steam for 90 mins - 2 hours.
  5. When cooked turn out onto a plate and slice and serve with ice cream.
