How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 180C (350F). Line a brownie tin.
  • In a large bowl, beat the egg.
  • Warm the honey in the microwave for 30 seconds or so, to make it runny.
  • Add honey, bi-carb soda and allspice to the egg. Mix well.
  • Gradually fold-in flour. The mixture will be a little crumbly/stiff.
  • Transfer mixture to prepared tin, Firm down the top a little.
  • Press the blanched almonds into the top of the batter decorativley.
  • Bake for 15 minutes, remove from oven and brush top with honey/water mixture.
  • Return to the oven for another 5 minutes.
  • Allow to cool and slice into squares.
