Traditional Hot Chocolate
From bilalmasood1971 14 years agoIngredients
- One cup of milk per serving (full cream will give the best result, but you can use skimmed too) shopping list
- 50-70% cocoa chocolate, preferably unsweetened OR very good quality milk chocolate (Lindt/Godiva) shopping list
- unsweetened cocoa powder (dark or sweetened, see directions below) shopping list
- cinnamon (for garnish) shopping list
- 1 bed or very comfortable sofa (to fall into while and after having this)! shopping list
- (For additional servings it's as simple as the ingredients multiplied by the servings, except for the cocoa powder and cinnamon, which are to taste) shopping list
How to make it
- Heat the milk over a low flame and wait for it to come to just under a boil.
- Take a generous amount (4-6) squares of a large chocolate tablet of Lindt, for e.g. and add them to the milk.
- Let the magic begin.....
- You can actually turn off the flame if the chocolate was at room temperature or lower it if it is coming out of a fridge.
- Whisk slowly at first and then vigorously. If your chocolate was sweetened you do not need to add any more sugar (or it will become unbearably sweet). If using unsweetened chocolate, add sugar to taste.
- Add cocoa powder to taste. Dark will give more depth of flavour if used with milk chocolate and vice versa.
- Serve immediately.
