Mofo Sakay Or Hot Bread

- 5 red serrano or jalapeno chiles, seeds and stems removed, minced shopping list
- 2 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 tbs baking powder shopping list
- 1 tbs curry powder shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 cup minced onion shopping list
- 3 cloves garlic, minced shopping list
- 2 tsp minced fresh ginger shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups minced watercress shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups water shopping list
- vegetable oil, enough for frying shopping list
How to make it
- Combine all of the ingredients, except the oil, in a large bowl and mix thoroughly. Cover the bowl lightly with a towel and allow the mixture to stand for 1 hour.
- Heat the oil in a deep-fryer or a skillet with high sides. Drop the dough by tablespoons into the hot oil without crowding the dough, and fry until the bread is dark, golden-brown. Remove the bread from the pan, drain on paper towels, and repeat the process until all of the dough is used up. Serve warm.
- Yield: 2 dozen bread balls.
