How to make it

  • steam yams in one inch of water(do not overcook).
  • cool and slip off the skins.
  • place flat side up in shallow baking dish.
  • make a few small knife slits in each yam.
  • combine ingredients in a saucepan.
  • heat on medium for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • pour over yams.
  • sqeeze lemon juice over yams.
  • bake 20 to 30 minutes uncovered.
