Ingredients

How to make it

  • Place sauerkraut in a colander and rinse well, pressing out much of the moisture.
  • Heat margarine until bubbly, in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sauerkraut to skillet, and sprinkle brown sugar over to taste.
  • Meanwhile, lightly brown sausage links in a separate pan or for a minute or two, under the broiler. Then place meat on top of the sauerkraut and heat through.

Pat, my neighbor from years ago was from the Old Country (Hungary), and she sure knew how to cook. Perogies was one of her specialties. I think she stuffed them with potatoes and cheese.

Oh yeah, I am gonna have to try kielbasa in my kraut next time. Minus the brown sugar for me, but, great idea! Thanks for sharing!

Great meal. I also make this with perogies instead of potatoes.

Perfect German meal,my step-mother use to make, something like this, she also would butter two slices of bread, drain the hot sauerkraut, place atop the buttered bread and make a sandwich, strange, but good.

    Thank-you for another splendid recipe.
