Boiled Ham Dinner With Green Beans & Potatoes

- 2 pounds fresh or frozen, cut green beans shopping list
- 1 large onion, chopped shopping list
- 2 lbs ham, diced shopping list
- 1 1/2 pounds new potatoes, diced shopping list
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder shopping list
- 1 teaspoon onion powder shopping list
- 1 tablespoon chicken soup base shopping list
- freshly cracked black pepper to taste shopping list
- salt, ONLY if needed shopping list
- water to cover shopping list
How to make it
- Add all ingredients, except potatoes, to a 6-qt Dutch oven; bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and put on a vented lid; cook for 2 or 3 hours.
- Add potatoes during last 45 minutes of cooking
- Adjust seasonings.
- Serve with biscuits or cornbread.
- NOTE: As an alternative, this can be made with several ham hocks or a desalinated corned beef brisket, in place of the ham.
