How to make it

  • Wash squash then cut in half lengthwise and remove seeds.
  • Place squash cut side down in baking pan and add a few tablespoons water to pan.
  • Bake at 400 for 30 minutes.
  • Turn cut side up and sprinkle with salt and continue baking 30 minutes until tender.
  • Cook onions in boiling salted water covered for 30 minutes then drain.
  • Simmer raisins in water to cover 10 minutes then drain.
  • Melt butter then blend in flour and salt.
  • Add milk all at once then cook and stir until sauce is thickened.
  • Blend in nutmeg then gently stir in onions and raisins.
  • Spoon into cooked squash halves and sprinkle with additional nutmeg.
