Suzannes Red Velvet Cake

- 2 cups sugar shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 2 1/2 cups sifted cake flour shopping list
- 1 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 1 tbsp cocoa shopping list
- 1 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 1 1/4 cup Crisco shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 1 tsp white vinegar shopping list
- 1 oz red food coloring shopping list
- cream cheese frosting shopping list
- 1 box sifted 4x powdered sugar shopping list
- 1 stick butter softened shopping list
- 8 oz cream cheese softened shopping list
- 1 cup chopped pecans shopping list
How to make it
- Cream sugar and eggs.
- Add the baking soda and cocoa to the sifted flour.
- Sift again.
- Alternate flour mixture and buttermilk to the creamed sugar and eggs (about 1/3 of each at a time)
- Blend well.
- Add crisco, vinegar, vanilla and red food coloring (the vinegar will make the mixture sizzle that's normal).
- Mix well.
- Grease 3 round baking pans (not bundt)
- Bake at 325 for 35 minutes
- Cake should be "bouncy" when done baking do not use a toothpick for doneness it will make the cake collapse.
- Cool on wire racks
- Frost with the cream cheese frosting.
