Ingredients

How to make it

  • Add water, cream soup, and chicken broth to pan.
  • Peel and slice carrots very thin and add to pan
  • Peel and dice potatoes and add to water
  • Slice Asparagus in 1 to 2 inch pieces. If the stems are a little tough, peel last 3 or 4 inches to remove tough outer covering and then slice and add to water
  • Add chopped onions and celery
  • Bring to a boil then turn down to med high or medium. You want a slow, constant boil.
  • Add seasonings. With the seasonings add as much or as little depending on family preference
  • Vegetables should not be crowded. Lots of room to move around.
  • Stir occasionally
  • When veggies are fork tender, use one of the methods to thicken the soup.
  • Blend flour or corn starch with water and mix until smooth. Add slowly to soup while stirring.
  • If you are using dry mashed potato flakes, sprinkle dry flakes over top of soup and stir VERY gently to blend.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings. If it needs more onion or garlic that can be added with onion and garlic powder.
  • Enjoy!

Thank you for the nice words, so do I. To waste asparagus, I believe, is a Cardinal Sin. right up there with wasting strawberries.
