War Time Fruit Cake

- 400g raisins shopping list
- 100g mixed peel shopping list
- 450g caster sugar shopping list
- 2 tspns mixed spice shopping list
- 500ml water shopping list
- 100g butter shopping list
- 3 ½ cups plain flour shopping list
- 3 tspns bi-card shopping list
- 200g chopped walnuts shopping list
How to make it
- Mix raisins, mixed peel, caster sugar and mixed spice.
- Add water and butter. Bring to boil and cool for about ½ an hour.
- Sift flour and bi-carb.
- Add fruit and mix.
- Add chopped walnuts.
- Pour into tin
- Bake at 170C for 1 hour. Allow up to an extra 20 minutes
- Icing
- Mix 1 cup icing sugar with orange juice. Pour over cake
