How to make it

  • Put the pork, breadcrumbs, egg, tomato puree and dried oregano in a large mixing bowl. Season well. Mix together until well combined. Using your fingers, shape the mixture into 12 balls. Chill for 30 minutes.
  • For the sauce, peel and chop garlic and onion. Heat the oil in a large frying pan. Fry the meatballs for 4-5 minutes, or until browned.
  • Remove meatballs from the pan. Add the garlic and onion to the pan. Fry gently over a low heat for 3-4 minutes, or until softened.
  • Add tomatoes and dried oregano and bring to boil. Return meatballs to the pan and simmer for 30 minutes, turning occasionally. Serve garnished with fresh oregano, if using.
