How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 375° F. Cook ground beef until no longer pink, drain well. Add taco seasoning, garlic, cayenne and water. Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes. Set aside.
  • Sprinkle cornmeal on bottom of 9x13 baker. Place 6 tortillas in pan, overlapping and extending up edges slightly.
  • Layer in the following order:
  • 1-cup salsa
  • ½ of the meat mixture (about 2 cups)
  • ½ cup green onions
  • 1-cup sour cream
  • 2-cups combined cheeses
  • Repeat starting again with 6 tortillas, salsa, meat, green onions, sour cream, and 2 cups cheeses. Add 6 more tortillas and remaining salsa. Bake for 40 minutes. Add remaining cheese. Bake an additional 10 minutes or until cheese melts. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
