Markos Beer Can Chicken Recipe
When my grill is slow-roasting my perfectly prepared poultry pal, the neighbors come out of the woodwork to smell the show!

Ingredients
  • 4 to 6 pound whole chicken
  • medium sized red potato or
  • medium sized yellow onion
  • 3/4 can of beer or
  • favorite soda pop
  • fresh garlic cloves
  • any combination of spices and seasonings you prefer

Directions
  1. Rinse and pat dry thawed chicken
  2. (fresh unfrozen is the best)
  3. slice garlic paper thin and carefully tuck underneath the upper half of the birds skin
  4. sprinkle seasonings of your choice inside the bird and rub
  5. lightly brush the ouside of the bird with butter or vegatable oil
  6. season the outside of the bird with seasonings
  7. place bird upright on can holder with can ( you can find these at many stores nowadays)
  8. Place either a medium sized red potato or yellow onion inside the bird (where the head used to be) to seal in juices!
  9. I like to use two piles of charcoals, one on either side of grill.
  10. place bird on lower half of grill and cook on 350 or so until bird is done
  11. the bird will get golden brown from the butter and seasonings so don't think the bird is cooking too much.
  12. I normally cook by site, just because I've been grilling so often, don't hesitate to use a meat thermometer if you wish
  13. normally takes up to an hour and a half to cook, ENJOY!!!

I do this all the time.... and its wonderfully delicious.....and your right... you can smell this cooking all over the neighborhood...Everyone should try it....
