German Chocolate Toffee Cookies

- 1 cup butter, softened shopping list
- 1 cup shortening shopping list
- 2 1/2 cups sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar shopping list
- 1 pkg (4 oz.) German sweet chocolate, melted and cooled shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- 2 tsp water shopping list
- 2 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 6 1/2 cups flour shopping list
- 2 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups English toffee bits or almond brickle chips shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts shopping list
How to make it
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, shortening, both of the sugars until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the chocolate
- Add the eggs, one at a time
- Beat well after after each addition
- Beat in the water and vanilla
- Combine the flour, baking soda, and the salt
- Gradually add to the creamed mixture
- Stir in the toffee bits and the walnuts
- Drop by tablespoons 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets
- Bake at 350 F for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown
- Remove to wire racks to cool
