How to make it

  • Bring milk and basil to a boil, remove from heat and let steep 15 minutes
  • Strain and discard basil
  • In a mixer beat yolks and sugar until creamy and thick
  • Gradually add milk mixture, stirring constantly
  • Return mixture to low heat and mix and stir until it coats the back of a metal spoon
  • Do not allow to boil
  • Strian mixture into a bowl, stir in vanilla
  • Cool to room temperature
  • Refrigerate till well cooled
  • Process in an ice cream make per manufacturers insructions ad freeze till needed
