How to make it

  • In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and the sugar
  • Beat in the egg and the molasses
  • Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and salt
  • Gradually add to the creamed mixture
  • Chill
  • Roll into 1 1/4 inch balls
  • Dip the balls in sugar
  • Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets
  • Bake at 375 F for about 10 minutes or until set and the surface cracks.
  • Cool on wire racks
