- ~ The cake ~ shopping list
- 2 1/2 Cup flour shopping list
- 2 teaspoons baking powder shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 6 oz. Semisweet Dark Chocolat shopping list
- 1/2 Cup water shopping list
- 3/4 Cup Farm Fresh butter shopping list
- 1 3/4 Cup dark brown sugar,packed firmly shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract...I make my own shopping list
- 3 Large Fresh Free Range Ranch eggs shopping list
- 1/2 Cup plain yogurt shopping list
- ~ The Filling ~ shopping list
- 1 1/2 Cups Heavy (double) Cream shopping list
- 3 Tablespoons Confectioners' (icing) sugar shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract...I make my own shopping list
- 1 Cup raspberry preserves shopping list
- ~ The frosting ~ shopping list
- 12 oz. Semisweet Dark Chocolat shopping list
- 3/4 Cup Double Devon Cream (Devonshire) shopping list
- 1 1/2 Cup Confectioners' (icing) sugar shopping list
How to make it
- ~ For the Cake ~
- Butter 2...9 inch round cake pans.
- Line with parchment paper.
- Mix the flour,baking powder,and salt.
- Melt the chocolat with the water in a double boiler over barely simmering water.
- Set aside to cool.
- Beat the butter,brown sugar,and vanilla until creamy.
- Add the eggs,one at a time,beating until just blended after each addition.
- Gradually beat in the chocolat mixture on low,followed by the yogurt and dry ingredients.
- Spoon half the batter into each of the prepared pans.
- Bake at 350 degrees until a pick inserted into the centers comes out clean,about 34 to 40 minutes.
- Turn out onto racks and let cool completely.
- ~ For the Filling ~
- At high speed,beat the cream,confectioners' sugar,and vanilla until stiff.
- ~ For the Frosting ~
- Melt the chocolate in a double boiler over simmering water.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in the Double Devon and confectioners' sugar...Do Not let the frosting cool completely,or it will be too thick to spread.
- Split each cake horizontally.
- Place one layer on a serving plate.
- Spread with one-third of the raspberry preserves,and a layer of frosting.
- Spread with one-third of the Cream.
- Repeat with the remaining cake layers.
- Top with a plain cake layer.
- Spread the top and sides with the remaining frosting.
