Great Vegetarian Chili

- 1 cup of textured vegetable protein shopping list
- enough hot liquid to reconstitute ( vegetable, chicken or beef broth, or water ) shopping list
- 1 green bell pepper chopped shopping list
- 1 small onion diced shopping list
- 1 clove garlic minced shopping list
- 6 to 8 white mushrooms sliced shopping list
- 1 cup marinara or favorite tomato sauce or as desired shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste shopping list
- Condiments: grated mozzarella cheese, chopped fresh cilantro, sour cream or thick Greek yoghurt shopping list
- optional vege choices: ( plain grilled corn kernals,diced green or yellow sqaush, diced sweet potatoes etc etc ) shopping list
- Beans: yes add some if you wish shopping list
How to make it
- Reconstitute vegetable protein with liquid of choice. Start adding gradually enough hot liquid to vegetable protein in a bowl until it soaks up the water and is softened
- Meanwhile one can saute the onions,mushrooms and peppers in a pan with a little oil on the stovetop till softened, add the vegetavle protein and enough sauce as desired and bring to a boil and then simmer until all vegetables are tender.
- OR simply place everything in a slow cooker and cook low until veges are tender ( about 2 to 3 hours on high )or longer on low settings
- When finished correct seasonings if desired
- Served with condiments of choice
- Note: this freezes and reheats well and multiplies successfully
- And if you want to add any beans to the recipe: yes of course!!!
