Boston Brown Bread

- 2 cups cornmeal shopping list
- 2 cups entire wheat flour shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 tsp soda shopping list
- 1 pint hot water shopping list
- 1 cup molasses shopping list
- 1/2 cake of yeast shopping list
- 1/2 cup lukewarm water shopping list
How to make it
- Scald the cornmeal with the pint of hot water, then mix in the two cups of entire wheat foour, the molasses and the salt, adding the yeast dissolved in 1/4 cup of lukewarm water. Lastly add the soda, also dissolve in 1/4 cup lukewarm water. Pour this batter into greased molds, filling each a little over half, and let them rise until they are nearly full.
- Then put the molds into a pot of rapidly boiling water. Boil three hours, take them out and bake them for 1/2 hour.
