Chicken A La King

- Ingredients: shopping list
- 5 tablespoons butter shopping list
- 4 tablespoons flour shopping list
- 1 teaspoon celery salt shopping list
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper shopping list
- 1 T. Worstershire shopping list
- 1 cup (low sodium) chicken stock shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups milk or cream shopping list
- 1 can cream of celery soup shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon Old Bay shopping list
- 2 cups cooked chicken or turkey, shredded or cut into bite size pieces shopping list
- 1 tablespoon chopped pimientos shopping list
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, minced shopping list
- 2 green onions, sliced shopping list
- 1 10 oz frozen mixed vegetables, or you can add canned. If using canned, just heat for about a minute or two. shopping list
How to make it
- Preparation:
- In a skillet, melt butter and add chopped onions, parsley, Old Bay and flour. Whisk continuously. Add celery salt, pepper, Worstershire, chicken stock, soup and milk, then turn to medium high heat until mixture comes to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Do not allow to scorch.
- Add chicken. Add pimientos, frozen mixed vegetables).
- Cook over low heat until vegetables are tender. If mixture seems too thick, add more milk or stock.
- Note: Leftover chicken or a Rotisserie chicken is great for this recipe!
- Serve over toast, pop-overs or rice.
