How to make it

  • Teriyaki Sauce:
  • over medium heat on the stove, combine the mirin and the sake for 5 minutes, then add the shoyu (which is dark soy sauce) and the sugar; stir to dissolve the sugar
  • cook over low heat for 25 minutes; coo before using
  • combine ALL the remaining ingredients with the teriyaki sauce and let marinate for 1 hour
  • thread the pork onto 4 skewers, reserving the marinade
  • Grill (or broil) for 3 minutes on each side, basting frequently with the marinade
  • serve immediately with plain white rice
