Tatties, Mince And Dough Balls

- For mince: shopping list
- 500g of minced beef or quorn shopping list
- Four large potatoes for the mash shopping list
- 3 carrots shopping list
- One large onion shopping list
- 500mls of gravy stock If a thicker stock is needed then add cornflour or plain flour during the cooking of mince and tatties. shopping list
- for doughballs: shopping list
- 4 oz SR flour shopping list
- 2oz Atora suet shopping list
- pinch salt shopping list
- water shopping list
How to make it
- The mince should be browned in a frying pan over a medium heat along with the chopped onions. Remove from the heat and drain any excess oil. Add the liquidized or chopped carrots depending on your own preference. Add the stock or gravy mixture and return to the heat. Bring to the boil and then turn down the heat and gently simmer for about thirty minutes after ten minutes at the doughballs if your having them. Make your mashed potatoes as normal.
- for doughballs:
- Mix the dry ingredients and add enough water to make a stiff dough. The mixture is too sticky to roll into balls so just use a spoon to make small balls - they will rise so don't make them too large to start with. Place them around the pot or casserole on top of the mince. You should make sure there is just a little more gravy liquid than usual. Place a tight lid on the pot or casserole and simmer gently for 20 minutes.
