How to make it

  • Stir 1 ½ C boiling water into red and blue gelatin in separate bowls for at least 2 minutes until dissolved. Stir 1 ½ C ice cold water into each bowl.
  • Spray a 13x9 in. pan with non stick cooking spray and place on a cookie sheet. Pour red gelatin into pan and refrigerate for 45 minutes until set but not firm (gelatin should stick to finger when touched and should mound).
  • Refrigerate blue gelatin in bowl for 45 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, stir the remaining 1 C boiling water into lemon gelatin in bowl for at least 2 minutes until dissolved. Refrigerate for 25 minutes or until slightly thickened (consistency of unbeaten egg whites. Stir occasionally. Stir in whipped topping with wire whisk. Gently spread over red gelatin in pan. Refrigerate for 10 minutes or until set but not firm. Gently smooth thickened blue gelatin over gelatin mixtures in pan. Refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight until firm.
  • Decorate with additional whipped topping and fruit to resemble a flag (blueberries and strawberries).
