How to make it

  • Cut butter into chunks and toss into 9" deep- dish pie pan(Pyrex or ceramic work well). Place in 350' oven for 5-8 mins.,or till butter is melted.. Meanwhile,whisk together dry ingredients in mixing bowl. Add milk and vanilla and whisk till smooth.
  • Pour batter over hot butter;top with pears Bake 45 mins,or until top is browned and a toothpick poked in the center comes out clean.
  • As they bake,the pears will sink to the bottom and form their own layer.
  • Cool 30 mins;dust with powdered sugar. Serve slightly warm,straight from the dish..

    Please substitute almond extract for the vanilla. Such a delicate flavor with the pears.
